Katie Hix
SVP and CIO of Insurance, Humana
Katie Hix is the Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Insurance. In addition, Katie is co-captaining Humana’s modernization strategy. This includes evolving the organization’s infrastructure, architecture, and applications, to improve speed to market and enable new business capabilities.
Prior to Humana, as a senior technology executive, Katie has led across many areas within the global financial services industry and has had the opportunity to drive organizational transformations (cultural and technical) while developing talent. As Senior Vice President of Consumer and Wealth Banking Technology, Katie led technology teams related to Enterprise Rewards and Deals, Retail Banking and Credit cards. She drove agile transformation, establishment of a new technology reference architectures for enterprise rewards and retail banking, reduced risks, increased efficiency and supported new product offerings to clients. These new product offerings resulted in improved profitability across several lines of business.
Prior to Bank of America, Katie was an executive at Capital One in key roles for Canada (CIO for the Canadian business) while supporting US businesses (Credit Card, Rewards, Fraud and Small Business) with a focus on delivering leading-edge products on modern technology platforms related to credit cards, rewards, and fraud detection. Katie was critical in driving cloud transformation and agile transformation across the IT segments she led. Katie spent 16 years of her payments career with MasterCard International and had the opportunity to lead both business and technology teams for fraud, technology support services, audit, call centers, and both credit and debit card processing (standing up the first debit card processing business for MasterCard).
Katie resides in Charlotte, NC, with her husband Bill and has two adult children, Kaylah and Alec, who live in St. Louis, MO. She earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Missouri, holds an MBA from Lindenwood University, and has completed the SII executive program at Wharton, as well as several other executive programs at Kellogg, the University of Michigan (Ross), Georgia Tech, and George Washington University.
